Welcome to the Holiday 2002 E-mail newsletter. (if you do not wish to receive future issues, click on the unsubscribe link at the end of this newsletter) I thought November would be the final newsletter of the 2002 season but there's too much to do and plan for the 2003 season, so here's what's new.

Time is of the essence if you plan on attending the 2003 Mid-winters in Clearwater Florida. If you live up North, by the time March rolls around you'll be cursing the Winter and damn glad you can look forward to the sun and fun in Florida.  JY Sailboats will run the regatta which will be based at the Radisson Sand Key and Clearwater Sailing Center in Clearwater.  The Radisson Sand Key is an AWESOME resort! Dates:  Friday-March 7, Saturday-March8 and Sunday March 9.
Location: Clearwater, Florida.  Host Hotel is the Radisson Sand Key which is located right next door to the Clearwater Sailing Center.

All activities are at the Radisson Sand Key Hotel and  the Clearwater Sailing Center.  These two facilities are located right next to each other on the water and make it perfect for a family sailing vacation.  We race right in front of the Hotel so the non sailors can be enjoying the pool while the racers are doing their thing. This year we are going to have the food at the Hotel and Sailing Center so once you get there, you never have to drive. 

Schedule is as follows:

Thursday March 6

• Pizza and beer for those early arrivals at the Sailing Center.

Friday March 7

• Setup at the Sailing Center.  First Race at 1:00 so locals can drive up that morning.
• Festivities that night at the Radisson

Saturday March 8

• More racing
• Midwinters Hawaiian Buffet outside on the terrace at 6:30

Sunday March 9

• More Racing
• Lunch and Awards-  Have you on the road by 3:00

Registration: 

Register with JY Sailboats at dave@jysailboats.com (860-739-3033) all we need is skipper and crew name.  boat number.   skipper age.  $130. Fee includes Thursday dinner, Friday dinner, Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch.  Plus the regular goodies.

Hotel information: 

 We have reserved 40 rooms at the Radisson Sand Key.  These are suites so two couples or a family can fit comfortably in one room.  All rooms overlook the water.   Rate is $172 per night.  To reserve, call Hotel directly at 727-596-1100, ask for reservations, say you are with JY15 Class Regatta to get special rate. 
Please let JY know that you have reserved a room.

This event is going to be a great time and its a fun way to have a complete family mini vacation.  Busch Gardens is only a 45 minute drive so some of the family can enjoy this while you are out sailing.  Airline tickets are cheap compared to the past right now but don't delay in making your flight arrangements if you are going to charter.

Charter boats are available to class members. Contact Dave to make arrangements.

In summary, the weather will be warm, the sailing fun and the food will be great.  So come on down and enjoy the fun.

Website Update

It's time to start the 2003 season membership drive. Remember, with the strong support we have from JY/Hunter Marine, we were able to come up with some really exciting new benefits. Starting immediately, all new memberships for the 2003 sailing season will receive:

• A 5% discount on all equipment purchases from JY sailboats. This means, if you purchase a new set of sails, your discount will cover your class membership for the year!
• All members will receive a nice quality polo shirt with embroidered JY logo.
• JY charters at the North Americans and Mid Winters will be available to members only for a nominal fee. This means you just need to hop on a plane and you can have a boat at the Mid Winters in Clearwater or the NA’s next year in Dallas.
• Members receive e-mail newsletters and this annual post-North Americans newsletter as well as all other class mailings.
• We will re-introduce transom stickers for all you sticker freaks. (It still amazes me just how popular these were.)
• Any fleet with 5 or more registered members will receive a fleet JY flag they can take on the road with them! A list of current membership by fleet is shown below.
• The class association, together with JY/Hunter will also provide various "goodies" for regattas.
