        THE JY15 CLASS ASSOCIATION

2007 MIDWINTER CHAMPIONSHIP

MARCH 2 - 4, 2007

Hosted by the JYCA and the Clearwater Sailing Center

Sailing on Clearwater Bay 

1.         RULES: The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of the U.S. Sailing Association, the rules of the JY15 class (except as any of these are altered by the Sailing Instructions), this Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions, and any amendments governing the regatta thereto. This regatta will be a Category "A" event with regards to advertising.

2.         ADVERTISING: Advertising will be restricted to Category A.

3.         ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY: The regatta is open to boats of the JY 15 class that are members of the JYCA. Advance registration is strongly urged.  Eligible boats may be entered by completing the registration form online or mailing it with appropriate fees to:

All fees are also payable by PayPal at the time of online registration.

4.         CLASSIFICATION: The ISAF Sailor Classification Code will apply.

5.         FEES: Registration (on or before February 23)             $135.00

                      Registration (after February 23)                        $175.00

            Registration includes;  racing, 2 T-shirts, dinner for 2 Friday and Saturday nights, and lunch on Sunday.

                      Optional fees: Additional dinner on Friday                 $10 per person

                                             Additional dinner on Saturday             $15 per person

6.         SCHEDULE:    

Thursday, March 1  Registration, check in and welcoming at CSC                            1800-2000

Friday, March 2       Registration and check in at CSC                                             0900-1100

                                Skippers meeting at CSC                                                        1100

                                Warning gun 1st race (additional races to follow)                        1300

                                Dinner at CSC                                                                        1800

 

Saturday, March 3   Warning gun 1st race (additional races to follow)                        1100

                                 Dinner at Clearwater Yacht Club                                                                       1800

 

Sunday, March 4     Warning gun 1st race (additional races to follow)                        1000

                                            Awards ceremony, no later than                                               1500

                                            No races will be started after 1200 on Sunday 

7.         MEASUREMENTS: All boats are required to comply with current JY Class Rules and will be subject to spot checks by the JYCA Board at any time.

8.         SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: SI's will be available after 1800 Thursday, March 1 at the registration table.

9.         COURSES: Courses will be Modified Olympic, and Modified Windward-Leeward. Courses and lengths will be outlined in the Sailing Instructions.

10.       SCORING: The regatta will be scored as provided in Appendix A of the Racing Rules using the Low Point System.  If 6 or more races are completed, the worst finish will be discarded.

11.       PRIZES: Trophies will be awarded to the top skippers and crews at the completion of the Championship. Additionally special trophies will be awarded.

12.       CHARTER BOATS: A very limited number of boats will be available for charter to JYCA members for $325.  Charter boats do not include sails. If interested, please contact Cutter Smith at csmith@ederbros.com to make arrangements.

14.       ACCOMMODATIONS: There are many hotels on Sand key and Clearwater Beach that are within 2 miles of the Clearwater Sailing Center. A block of rooms has been reserved under "JY15" at:
